CNN Africa Feature: Ladybird Logistics

In this video feature, CNN Africa takes an in depth look at Ladybird Logistics’ unique approach to opening-up fuel trucking in the mining industry to women to create opportunities for economic empowerment and to also curtail theft and losses.

With 300 million liters of fuel used annually in Ghana’s mining industry, the industry is open to all sorts of tricks and devices which result in the theft of fuel. Ladybird Logistics was set up to exclusively employ women drivers in a bid to address this and other challenges.

Ladybird is addressing these issues through good corporate governance and the promotion of values including professionalism, integrity and teamwork. Although the project is still in its early days, with 21 women drivers and 10 trucks, there have already been impressive results.
